Best AI guest messaging tools for hotels, compared

Facts verified on vendor sites November 1, 2026 · Editorial, not sponsored · How we evaluate

AI guest messaging tools answer routine guest questions on WhatsApp, web chat, SMS and OTA inboxes, then hand anything tricky to your team. We compared six platforms from our directory using only what each vendor states on its own website. There are no paid placements on this page, and we don't rank tools we haven't run ourselves. Instead, we show who each one fits.

Our take: There's no single best tool. For direct-booking conversion, start with Asksuite. If you need tight controls across many channels, look at HiJiffy, or chatlyn if EU hosting matters. If you'd rather buy one platform for check-in, upsells and messaging, compare Canary, Duve and Akia. Ask each shortlisted vendor for a pilot on one property using your own top 20 guest questions.

How to choose

  1. Start with your channel mix. If most questions arrive on WhatsApp or OTA inboxes, shortlist tools that name those channels explicitly (HiJiffy, chatlyn, Duve, Asksuite).
  2. Decide: messaging only, or the whole guest journey? Canary, Duve and Akia bundle check-in, upsells or payments. HiJiffy and chatlyn go deeper on conversations.
  3. Ask how the AI decides what it's allowed to say. Look for answers limited to your own knowledge, visible sources (HiJiffy) or a review queue for weak answers (chatlyn).
  4. Confirm your PMS integration in writing, including whether the tool only reads data or also writes back.
  5. Treat automation rates as marketing. Vendors measure them differently, so compare them on a pilot with your own guest questions.

Frequently asked questions

What is AI guest messaging for hotels?

Software that answers guest messages automatically on channels like WhatsApp, web chat, SMS and OTA inboxes, using your hotel's own information, and passes anything it can't handle to a staff member.

Can AI guest messaging replace front desk staff?

No, and hoteliers don't want it to. Every tool on this page hands conversations to people. In the Mews Hotelier Survey 2026, 59% of hoteliers said the front desk welcome and check-in should stay human-led, even though 98% had used AI in operations in the previous six months. Source: Mews, May 2026.

How much do AI guest messaging tools cost?

None of the six publish standard prices on the pages we reviewed. Asksuite and chatlyn say they quote per property. Ask for pricing per room or per property, setup fees, WhatsApp message costs and contract length.

Which hotel AI messaging tools work with WhatsApp?

HiJiffy, Asksuite, chatlyn and Duve all name WhatsApp on their sites. Check whether they use the official WhatsApp Business API and who pays the per-message fees.

How should we roll out AI guest messaging?

Start with one property and the 20 most common questions, keep a person reviewing answers for the first weeks, and measure handoffs. Our guest messaging tools each come with a rollout playbook, and the guest email drafts OpsRecipe is a low-risk way to start.
